The Vintager Pinot Noir & Chardonnay 2-Pack
750 ml
Once upon a time, we had a LOT of fun with the Vintager wines. Sourced from some of the best single vineyards up and down the CA coast, but identified only by appellation, these wines represent amazing value, because their price is nowhere near what it should be. I sill remember a Vintager Cabernet with a Sonoma Mountain designation for which I would have cheerfully paid double the asking price. The Chard hails from Knights Valley in Sonoma, where the combination of well-drained, gravelly soils and abundant cooling morning fog yield a gregarious extrovert of a wine. Loaded with baked apple, citrus, honeysuckle, and vanilla, it's ripe and rich, but also structured. It sees plenty of new oak, but it wears it well. The Pinot Noir has a Cole Valley AVA, a tiny appellation sandwiched between Russian River Valley and Anderson Valley. For Pinot Noir, that's hallowed ground. High altitude (above the fog, which allows grapes to ripen in this cooler climate area), clay and gravel soil, and warm days contrasted with cool nights-Cole Valley might have been expressly for the Pinot Noir grape. Red and black cherries mingle with plum and spice. The palate is silky smooth and seductive. 2 years in French barrique add a touch of cinnamon and vanilla. It's like drinking heavy silk satin. We feel you should try both of these beauties, so we're selling them as a pair. Old friends. They're the best. Especially at this kind of price.
