Portugal’s Dao region is a bit of an anomaly. Everywhere, there’s rock-hard granite-except in your glass. The vineyards of Dao may be granite, but the wines of are pure silk.
Granitic mountain ranges shelter the region on three sides, shielding it from temperature extremes. Relatively high altitude allows the grapes to fully ripen, but retain a graceful, balancing acidity. And granite soils-overlaid with fine sand-contribute a lively mineral character to the wines. If you’re a Pinot Noir lover, but would like your Pinot at a bargain price, the red wines of Dao could be your new best friend.
A blend of Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Nacional, Cabriz Tinto is overflowing with fresh, crisp berry and plum flavors. Medium-bodied and silky-smooth, it has polished tannins and accent notes of mineral and spice. A bargain even at full price, it’s a ridiculously sweet deal at this price.

Connecting Good Friends with Great Wine
The idea that became Pour Richard’s was born of many late nights drinking wine with old friends. At least half of every couple worked in wine sales. Sooner or later, after a couple of great bottles, we’d start talking about how we never got to sell our favorite wines. Many of the best bottles in our respective warehouses never saw the light of day because we were all way too busy fulfilling our quotas on the big national brands. Small family vineyards, fun new regions? Those mostly sat there until we closed them out. “Wouldn’t it be great”, we all said, “if we could sell the things we drink?” So, that’s exactly what we’re doing! At Pour Richard’s, you’ll drink like an industry insider – a well-edited selection of wine, beer, and spirits, all at great values.
